Shell beans

These pre-soaked Shell beans which I will be cooking later bring back fond memories of my late grandfather who had grown and harvested them on his once thriving farm in Fujian, China. Sadly after grandfathers passing a few years ago the farm was taken over by local government for development. My grandmother was devastated when she received the letter, she had no choice but to follow their order and sell the farm. Despite this sudden closure she has continued her love of the land by keeping honey bees at home as well as growing other various plants and vegetables for the family. Some fruits from the orchard and vegetables from the farm like these shell beans were saved, air dried and carefully stored away by my grandparents. Before this awful turn of events I got an opportunity to visit them and see first hand the love and dedication both grandparents put into making this their livelihood for so many years. My true inspiration 🌷
